England secure semifinal spot, while South Africa are out

If their was one team which I would not bet on before the start of Champions Trophy it would have been England. The team which lost a recent series with Australia 6-1,were never believed to have a chance by most. However, they have proved everyone wrong by their superb performance in the first two matches that they played. After beating a strong looking Sri Lankan side,England beat favourites South Africa by 22 runs to ensure a semifinal berth. Some superb performances by Paul Collingwood,Owais Shah,James Anderson and Eon Morgan have helped England beat two of the better sides in World ODI cricket.Morgan looked impressive in a few matches of the series against Australia, and he continues to impress with a breathtaking knock against South Africa.
On the other hand, this is another tournament for South Africa in which they started as favourites and did not end up even close to winning.Graeme Smith, the skipper was the lone fighter as South Africa went down to England by 22 runs.He made 141,even though his team could manage 301 chasing a target of 323.Cricket is a funny game, which has once again seen unexpected turn of events.
