Australia lift the Champions Trophy


Brendon McCullum got out for a duck off 14 balls as Australia had a excellent start to the all big final.New Zealand managed only 200 on a track which had some support for the seamers with Broom making 37.Guptill was the top scorer with 40.Hauritz was impressive with 3/37 in his 10 overs.Brett Lee showed his class with a 2 wicket haul,and caused many problems to the Kiwis.In the Australian innings,Shane Bond and Kyle Mills were on fire.New Zealand took 2 early wickets,inluding the all important wicket of skipper Ricky Ponting.Kyle Mills was exceptional with 3/27 in his 10 overs.Bond was also on fire,though he managed just one wicket.They were giving Shane Watson and Cameron White a very tough time.At the 15 over stage,Australia managed only 34 for the loss of 2 wickets.However,Watson batted throughout to make a unbeaten century.White also supported with a knock off 62.
Australia once again showed their dominance,and defended their title like they did in 2003 WC and 2007 WC.Shane Watson was the Man of the Match,while Ricky Ponting was named Man of the Series.
