In a sudden and bizarre move,Pakistan Cricket Board have punished seven important players in their with bans and fines.In wake of a disastrous win less tour of Australia,PCB has banned experienced Younis Khan and Mohammed Yousuf from playing in any form for an indefinite period.Both the former captains have been punished for infighting and bringing the team down.Such experienced campaigners were punished for being a bad influence and definitely surprised most.I felt,it was too stupid and they should have been banned for maybe just a series or two.The action seems to strong and removing such important players could adversely effect the team.Also,Shoiab Malik and Naved-ul Hasan have been banned for 1 year.Both were banned for similar reasons to Yousuf and Younis.Also,Shahid Afridi,Kamran and Umar Akmal have been fined Rs 2-3 million for behaviour problems.
To me,the action taken is too strong and could damage Pakistan cricket badly.However,most experts including the likes of Ramiz Raja think it is the right move to send a strong signal to all players.Well,Pakistan has never had a lack of talent,just like India,but suddenly taking such action has never been seen before.A team has been announced for T20 World Cup 2010 and surprisingly,PCB hasn't named a captain so far.The team includes Shahid Afridi and Akmal brothers.Lets see,how well they do in defending their title.
